The agenda was approved. Minutes from the March Dinner were read by Mabel Davis. Motion for approval was made by Jim McCarty and seconded by Gary Neeley. Treasurers report was given by Earle Hammond. Building fund - $5202.60, Savings account - $1855.46 and Checking account balance of $9214.3 Membership Report: Gary Neeley is working on a presentation letter for mailing to prospective members. Sports Shows: Earle reported that he and Coach attended the St Robert’s Sports Show. Approximately 400 Vacation Guides were given out with the local Chamber of Commerce receiving 100 Guides. Website & IT: Vince Sala reported the the Website is up to date. Traffic data to the site is unavailable due to hosting service maintenance. The office computer is back and working nicely. Earle suggested that we purchase a flat screen monitor for the office. Melissa made the motion and Jeannie seconded it to purchase a flat monitor. Chip Shaddox suggested that someone stop by the Trading Post as he might have one to donate to the Chamber. Nemo Bridge Resort is receiving a free banner as due to technical problems last year on their ad. Quotes on a laser printer are to be presented at our next meeting. Fall Festival: Vincent reported that 7 spots have been reserved so far for the September 25. 2010 date. A more up to date map was requested showing where the new trees were planted. Vince will secure the use of the bathrooms in the Courthouse later in the year. Applications for the Fall Festival are available at The Index and US Bank in Hermitage. Vacation Guide: Earle reported that the Notice for Bids on getting the information together for next year will be opened at the next meeting. Feelers are out on the bid for next year’s printing. Last year’s cost was $8,000 versus $12,000 previously. Fireworks Over the Water: Letters have been sent to tour and travel agencies. Thank you letters are to be sent for donations. Mark Houser and the band Branded will play after the fireworks display as well as before. FAA application for the Fly Over is still in the works. Dr. Wouters has indicated that he may be able to be on hand for medical needs. Letters have been sent to the Sheriff, Water Patrol, First Responders, and Coast Guard Auxiliary for available assistance. Calls are coming in requesting information on the event. We may be able to use the Hill Top Café for emergency staging. CORPS has a copy of our insurance and will sign authorizing the event. American Profile has confirmed an article on the event will be in their publication. SW Electric magazine and others have received information on the event. Don Ginnings, Hermitage Index, is working with Jim. Garage Sales and Market Days are an integral part of the day. Portapots are to be billed to the US Corps of Engineers (this year only). Promotions - Fund Raising: Melissa reported that the Chamber will be able to do fund raising events at Lucas Oil Speedway this year. She asked for members interested in working the races to contact her. Scholarships: Nancy reported that letters were sent out. She is waiting for the third judge to turn the papers back in. We received 13 applications from the 4 county schools. Kim Day spoke to the Chamber about starting a Farmers Market at Pittsburg. The market would include crafts as well as food items. Chamber credit cards were approved for the President, Vice-President and Treasurer. Motion made by Vince and seconded by Jim. The cards must be activated before each use. Jim McCarty brought the fact that Weaubleau phone numbers are not available in our local phone book. He suggested that the Chamber write a letter to Century Link asking that they add these Hickory County numbers to the next book they publish. Melissa made the motion and Vic seconded it with the addition that a letter also be sent to Weaubleau City Hall to advise them of our efforts. Vince spoke about the computer safety needs due to the rising problems on social and auction sites. Members were reminded that the 2010 Pomme de Terre Rendezvous is scheduled for May 1 and 2, the Pomme de Terre Car Show on June 26 and the 2010 Annual Business Expo at Lucas Oil Speedway on May 8.
