Members and guests were asked to introduce themselves and the businesses they represented. The Agenda was approved. Minutes were read and approved a amended. Motion by Earle Hammond. Second by Victor Domzalski. Wayne Woodworth, Veterans’ Representative for the Missouri Career Center, spoke to the membership about the Show Me Heroes program the was kicked off in January by Governor Nixon. Wayne told of the website for the organization, www.showmeheroes.mo.gov and asked business owners to strongly consider hiring veterans. Anyone who pledges to support the movement will receive a Certificate and a We Support Veterans sticker. Treasurer’s report was presented by Earle Hammond. Checking account balance was $3475.59. Building fund was $5202.6 and $3381.32 in the Savings Account. The report was filed for audit. Membership report was given by Gary Neeley. The camber gained two new members this past month. A short discussion was held on Sports Shows. Melissa moved that we send representatives to the St Louis and Kansas City show as well as considering attendance at Springfield, Joplin, Clinton and St Roberts’ shows. Jeannie seconded the motion. Motion approved. Vince reported that the host site moved our website from one hosting site to a second one. There were approximately 5,800 hits on the site in March but no information is available as yet on April visitors. A price range was requested for the laser printer the Chamber was thinking of purchasing. Buying versus leasing was also discussed. Gary told the members that he might have an ink jet printer to donate to the office. Vince reported that another booth had signed up for the Fall Festival. He will need volunteers help closer to the date. It was suggested that we consider giving a booth space to volunteer workers. Two bids for Vacation Guide prep were opened at the meeting. After much discussion it was decided to reject the bids and advertise again for more bids. Motion made by Jeanne and seconded by Victor. Jim McCarty reported on the Fireworks Over the Water preparation. A letter has been given to the Hermitage Fire Department in compliance to the Missouri Division of Fire Safety requesting approval for the Fireworks display. This is a routine request. When contacted, AM Pyrotonics advised us that they routinely comply with the Missouri Division of Fire Safety regulations. Jim has been in contact with the Hickory Sheriff’s Posse about the events planned. Melissa Boyd reported that we are scheduled for a 50/50 fund-raiser for Fireworks Over the Water at the Lucas Oil racetrack on June 12. She asked for volunteers to work the event. Melissa made the motion for Gary to make posters for the event. Earle seconded the motion. Motion approved. Nancy Sisson reported that Teana Nicole Coffee from Skyline was chosen to receive the Chamber of Commerce Scholarship this year. Earle reported that he was meeting with the committee at the Corps of Engineer’s Office for Kids Fishing Day to be held June 5 beginning at 8 a.m. Vince reported that counterfeit bills have been passed in Hickory County. Scrutinize all currency you receive carefully. Damon reported that the Tax return needed for the Credit Cards to be issued had been given to Melissa. The card should be received soon. Earle reported that he was trying to get an airplane flyover of the lake Memorial weekend to get updated pictures of the lake area for the Vacation Guide. Damon asked if anyone know where the giant scissors for ribbon cutting ceremonies were stored. Meeting adjourned at approximately 9 p.m. Mabel Davis Board Member / Secretary
