President Damon Smith called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. at the Pomme de Terre Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Office.

The Agenda was approved as amended.

Minutes for February and the Special March Meeting were read and approved as amended. Motion by Melissa Boyd, Second by Jeannie McCubbin. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report was presented by Earle Hammond: Checking account balance of $9,121.62; Building Fund Balance or $5,279.82; Savings Account balance of $3,836.01.

Motion was made Jim McCarty to purchase a medium sized ticket drum for future drawings for $150. Jeannie McCubbin seconded the motion. The motion was approved after discussion.

The Membership report was given by Gary Neely. Membership forms are not coming in a quickly as expected. There seems to be some confusion about the advertising payments and the donations for the fireworks fund with the new membership billing. Gary said he would send out reminders.

SPORTS SHOWS

Earle Hammond had nothing new to report. Earle was asked to look into setting up a booth at the Springfield Sports Show. Advertising in the Springfield was discussed.

WEBSITE & IT

Vince reported that our host site for the website was merging with Tucows. Checking e-mails might be a problem at the time. If anyone has problems they are to contact Vince as soon as possible. Motion was made by Earle Hammond to drop “Looking for Work” from the website. The motion was seconded by Jeannie McCubbin. The motion passed as the page has been up over a year now and just was not utilized well.

FALL FESTIVAL

Melissa Boyd reported she had received 3 or 4 reservation for the September 24th Fall Festival. Mailings have gone out to venders. Flyers were given to the membership to advertise the event.

VACATION GUIDE

Earle Hammond reported that two bids had been received for the printing and lay out for next year’s Vacation Guide from ACT NOW and Print It All. Melissa Boyd moved to accept the bid from ACT NOW. Nancy Sisson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Earle is to advertise for Compilation bids

PROMOTIONS

Melissa reported that our 50/50 night at the Lucas Oil Speedway is June 11. She needs volunteers to work. A dinner fundraiser was discussed. A Business of the Year Award as discussed and tabled until the May meeting.

Earle asked to contact Mark at the McCarty Senior Cent to reschedule our dinner concert next year until the following weekend. The Krazy Kats cannot come the weekend we had already reserved. President Damon Smith directed Earle to do so.

SCHOLARHIP

Nancy Sisson reported forms had been mailed or delivered to the school. An article was placed in The Index to inform parents of the opportunity to apply for this year’s scholarship. April 15 is the deadline for the scholarships to be returned by mail. Melissa, Gary and Earle are to judge the applications.

KIDS FISHING TOURNAMENT

Earle reported that the tournament will be held on June 4 at 8 a.m. at the Outlet Park. Children and youth up to 16 are welcome to participate. The Corps of Engineers and Muskie Inc. are helping with the event.

FIREWORKS

Jim McCarty on the letters sent out to groups inviting them to participate in Fireworks Over the Water.

50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Damon, Melissa, Jeannie, and Jim reported on the ideas generated at the Corps of Engineer meeting for the celebration. Discussion on the Chambers part in the celebration was held.

OTHER

Tina and Dennis Dudley spoke about the Rendezvous to be held April 30 and May 1. The Rendezvous is celebrating its 25th year below the dam.

Damon spoke about a problem in our area with Phone Book Covers. It seems someone has been contacting business to put one together, but the number of covers promised has fallen very short. Damon is going to find more information about the company involved and try to contact them.

Damon brought up the request for the Chamber to sponsor a hole the upcoming Pomme de Terre Shrine Golf Tournament for $100. Motion made by Melissa , seconded by Don Thrall. Motion approved.

President Damon Smith commented that it was good to see new faces at our meetings.

Motion to adjourn, seconded and approved 8:33 p.m.
