Meeting Minutes February 14, 2011

Vice President Gary Neely called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. at the Pomme de Terre Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Office.

The Agenda was approved as amended.

Minutes were read and approved as amended. Motion by Melissa Boyd, Second by Earle Hammond. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report was presented by Earle Hammond. Checking account balance of $6,304.27. Building Fund Balance or $5,262.30. Savings Account balance of $2,633.86.

The Membership report was given by Gary Neely. Carson’s Corner NAPA will be holding a Grand Re-Opening/Ribbon Cutting at a date yet to be announced. A letter was sent out to a prospective member who contacted the Chamber Office by e-mail.

SPORTS SHOWS

Earle Hammond, Don Thrall, George Closson and Jim Wilson attended the St Louis Sports Show. 2700 Vacation Guides were given out at the booth. Earle spoke about adding other shows next year to attend such as Tulsa or Topeka. He also said he would look into the cost of having bags at the booth as a draw for people stopping by. The brochures could be placed in the bags along with driving instructions to the lake area.

WEBSITE & IT

Gary reported that Vince had nothing new to report at this time. Changes that needed to be made to the website including the headings used for the list of members as well as listings to be added or deleted was mentioned.. Gary Neely will act as liaison for the Chamber Board on Website matters. A PDF file of the 2011 Vacation Guide has been requested and will be added to the Website after it arrives. The possibility of a quarterly newsletter was mentioned. It could also be placed on the Website and/or e-mailed to area patrons.

FALL FESTIVAL

Melissa Boyd reported that flyers will be sent out in early March.

VACATION GUIDE

Earle Hammond will be delivering Vacation Guides later this month. He was directed to keep a log of his mileage for reimbursement.


PROMOTIONS

Earle Hammond reported that we still have a few tickets for the upcoming 1st Annual Fireworks Fund Raiser at the McCarty Senior Cent on February 26. The Burt, the performer for that evening, was interviewed by KJEL Radio on his recent trip to the area. Attendees are encouraged to contact Earle Hammond, Melissa Boyd, Mabel Davis, Vic Domzalski, Greg Becker, Don Thrall, Nancy Sisson or Gary Neely as soon as possible. Ads for the dinner show are to be placed in The Buyers Guide and The Index.

Melissa reported that the center pieces for the tables have been purchased. They will be kept at the Chamber Office for future events. Volunteers are needed for the set up on Saturday and the tear down on Sunday. Contact Melissa if you can help.

Earle reported that the sales for the 32" LCD TV are going well. The drawing for the TV will take place at the end of the Chamber’s Spring Dinner at the McCarty Senior Center on March 14. The funds brought in from this event are also going to Fireworks Over the Water.

MARCH DINNER MEETING

Nancy Sisson reported that the dinner meeting will be March 14 at the McCarty Senior Center. The 6 p.m. dinner will include Herb Pork Loin or Chicken and costs $5.00. All donations above the cost of the dinner will be given to Meals on Wheels. This dinner meeting is open to all community members, businesses and organizations. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to contact Nancy Sisson or Gary Neely by March 1st in order to give a meal count to the Senior Center.

50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

The committee formed last month will be meeting Wednesday at the Corps of Engineers Office at 6:30 p.m. on February 16. Jim MCCarty shared some of his ideas for this event with Chamber members.

KIDS FISHING DAY

Kids Fishing Day was discussed along with possible changes to be made for the event.


OTHER

Earle Hammond was contacted at the St Louis Sports Show about possible sponsorship of a Sport Drag Boat. When he has more information on this he will bring it to the Chamber members. As these events at the Lucas Oil Speedway will be televised it would be an excellent advertising method for local businesses.
