President Damon Smith called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. at the Pomme
de Terre Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Office.
The Agenda was approved as amended. Motion made by Vic Domzalski. Seconded
by Gary Neely.
Minutes were read and approved as amended Motion made by Jim McCarty. Seconded
by Vic Domzalski. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s report was presented by Gary Neely. Checking account balance
of $15,830.44. Building Fund Balance or $5,279.45.30. Savings Account balance
of $3962.45.
The Presidents Report was given by Damon Smith. He told the group in attendance
that he has been unable to contact the company about the phone book covers
so far, but will continue his efforts to get some information about this issue.
The Membership report was given by Gary Neely. He reported that membership
renewals are slowly coming in. He has drafted a letter reminding the membership
that advertising renewals are also due and donations are being accepted for
the Fireworks Fund.
SPORTS SHOWS
Nothing to report at this time.
WEBSITE & IT
Gary read a report from Vince. The website is presently up to date with the
exception of the minutes. The “Looking for Work” site was removed.
There have been 15,333 visitors on the website so far this year, including
3713 visitors in April.
The ability to print or download the Chamber Membership form has been added
to the website. The Scholarship winner is also on the site.
FALL FESTIVAL
No report at this time.
VACATION GUIDE
Ads for compilation of the 2012 vacation Guide are to come out in the newspaper.
PROMOTIONS
The date for the Dinner and music show with the Krazy Kats is scheduled for
February 18 at the McCarty Senior Center.
Melissa asked Gary to remind the membership that volunteers are needed for
the 50/50 raffle coming up soon at the Lucas Oil Speedway.
Possible future fund-raisers were discussed. Bill will get more information
on possible costs. The drum ordered for drawings has arrived and is stored
at the office.
50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Jeannie McCubbin moved that the Chamber become the main sponsor to the 50th
Anniversary Celebration of Pomme de Terre Dam. Nancy Sisson seconded the motion.
After the discussion the motion passed. Motion made and passed to open a separate
checking account for any funds received for this event. Damon appointed himself
and Jeannie McCubbin as co-signers of checks for this account.
Jeannie moved to spend up to $1000 to help fund the 50th Anniversary Event.
Vic seconded the motion. Motion passed after discussion.
KIDS FISHING DAY
Gary reported that donations are needed for this event.
SCHOLARSHIP
Nancy reported that this year’s scholarship winner is Justin Cody McLane
from Wheatland. He is planning to attend Missouri University at Columbia and
major in Marine Biology.
FIREWORKS OVER THE WATER
Jim reported that American Profile will include the event in their publication
again this year. The letter to the State Fire Marshall for permission to hold
the Fireworks will be sent soon. A copy of our insurance papers needs to be
included in the letter. We need to contact schools for groups willing to work
booths at the event. The Fly Over will not happen at this celebration as it
is a federal holiday, but could occur for the 50th Anniversary Celebration.
Branded has volunteered to play again this year.
OTHER
After a discussion it was decided by consensus not to add to this year’s
Fireworks Display.
Visitors Larry and Diane Winegar from Lightnin Ridge Publishing spoke to
the membership about the publication by Larry Dablemont and the possibility
of bringing out a special addition about the Pomme de Terre Lake and the 50th
Anniversary of the Dam. They were invited to the next committee meeting for
the Anniversary Celebration.
The idea of Business of the Year was again discussed. A suggestion was made
that we might consider featuring businesses on the website instead of the
Award. Tabled for further consideration.
